 'GOTH'

Even when The Last Laugh were touring in the eighties, the definition of 'goth' was

much disputed. And as we all know, anyone actually claiming to be a goth can't be a

true goth ...  especially if they're under 35 ... (just joking!)

But what is goth? ... what is a goth?

You really think I'm going to try and answer these questions?

Anyway, according to Graham White, there's a lot more to it than wearing black

clothes and being into vampires:

"Generally more aspirational than the punks, beneath the style element of goth there

was still a fuck-the-mainstream philosophy of trying to be yourself despite the outright

condemnation or fear-based ridicule of others, whilst, at the same time, seeking a sense

of belonging; being part of a tribe.  This fierce attitude happily translated to the rave

scene and other subsequent styles of self-expression. I think anyone searching for a

community in which one can truly be oneself can relate to it ... "

Read some of an interview he gave in which he talks about the 'goth' sub-culture
